Microfashion: Hair Bows
If you have spent any time around my daughter Joelle, you have likely seen one of her dainty hair bows on her head (I say on her head because she doesn't have enough hair to clip a bow into yet - LOL!). During Joelle's newborn photo session when she was 3 days old (!), photographer Kyla from Kay Photos had an adorable pink bow from Macey & Co. for Joelle to wear (Kyla brings props to in-home sessions - she's amazing!).
I immediately fell in love with the hair bows... and I knew Joelle needed some of her own. From then on, Joelle has worn a bow in her hair almost every day. I just cannot get over the cuteness. Bows can be the headband style (for little to no hair kids like Joelle) or the alligator clip style. The bows complement every single outfit, and let me tell you, there are awesome local businesses who make bows that are just simply perfection.
Here is a round-up of some of my favourites:
- Macey and co. Is a small business located on Salt Spring Island in BC. Most of Joelle's bows are from here. They have a Monthly Bow Subscription (yes, you read that right!) where they automatically send you 3 new bows every month. PRO tip: Macey and co. will send you alligator clips with subsequent orders to convert headband bows to clips (we will definitely be doing this!).
- Little Darling Bows is located in Chilliwack, BC and is another small local business. I love the variety of textiles they use to create their bows. They have a red gingham bow right now and on trend with this summer's fashion.
- Heading eastward, Mlle Leonie is located in Quebec, QC and offers vegan bow options and, similar to the previous mentioned shops, offers a large variety of bows in different shapes, styles, and textiles.
Here are some of my favourites that I've come across from these 3 shops. You can click on each of the images to be automatically redirected to the shops!
I hope you have fun checking out these small shops. Let me know if there are any other children's accessories shops I should check out - I would love to hear about them.
