Summer Wedding Fashion That Wows!
I’m not sure about all of you, but when summer hits, wedding weekends are marked on the calendar, let the glamourous, love filled weekends begin! But for those of us who aren’t the bride with our dress ordered months in advance, let the dress shopping begin! This past weekend we had the honour to attend the Martel wedding. A beautiful, farm wedding with the perfect weather and the perfect setting.
When it comes to shopping for your outfit, I imagine everyone has their own strategies. For some, it’s a quick last-minute trip to the mall, or a day of shopping, maybe a trip to your local thrift or vintage store. However you find your dress, be prepared to make a statement that helps your dress stand out from the rest. With all of the weddings going on around us, I thought I would put together some stand out, classy finds that (in my opinion) will make your shopping a bit easier. An extra bonus, all the items I’ve put together are Canadian made! Yes, you read that correctly, made in Canada.
So, before you step out on your dress search, check out a few ideas I’ve found that may be helpful for your hunt! And support Canadian businesses at the same time!
There’s something about this blue that I’m just in love with. I think it works well for any skin type and it's a showstopper. It’s also nice because it works well for many venues as it plays off of nature's hues. With this dress in particular, it provides a simple look with the neckline and fit, but the ruching on the side give the dress that extra flare. Pair it with subtle nude or black shoes, and rose gold or gold accessories and you have a stunning outfit. There is also something to be said for lip shade. It can definitely define a specific look you are going for. This blue is so bold, that a vintage shade of pink and a geometric clutch play up the look, without taking away from the smaller details. I also need to note, this dress is from Le Chateau, did you know that you can search "made in Canada" and you will find a large selection of dresses? How fantastic is that!
Everyone has their own look, this whimsical red dress gives you options for accessories to customize styling. I love how this dress flows and wraps around the body just so, providing structure to multiple body types. My sister rocked one similar for Robbie’s Christening and it was beautiful. The flowy skirt gives it the whimsical feel, while the neckline and shoulder coverage is more structured for a more modest look. But, with specific accessories, you can style the dress in two very different ways. If you’re looking for a more edgy flare, the black accessories and chunky, lucite, bangle are key. And how about the amazing black clutch, I love the foldover concept (can you tell?). I’m not sure if it gives you the idea that you have more space, or that you actually DO have more room for your must have items. If you’re looking for a softer look, the gold and tan accessories are the way to be. The suede and leather clutch gives you the soft, subtle addition. With the variety of lip colours trending right now, any shade could rock either of these looks.
This Cartise purple dress is a great multipurpose dress. You can dress it up with some bling and high heels, or dress it down with a jean jacket and flats. When I think of weddings, I think romance, and this rose gold knot bracelet paired with the rose gold earing crawlers bring an elegance to the dress. Make even more of a statement with these heels and clutch. What I love about the majority of this outfit is that several of the pieces can be worn again in a variety of settings.
In case you’re really stuck with what to wear, check out Rent Frock Repeat, a company based out of Toronto, Ontario, that provides formal wear rentals for women. They provide extensive sizing information to take the worry out of online shopping. I also love the concept of sustainability in re-using or “renting” a dress.
I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out some summer wedding outfit suggestions, here’s a pic of what we wore. I purchased my dress from @JeanMachine and my shoes from @Spring. I purchased it several weeks ago for Robbie's Christening and couldn't resist getting another wear out of it. I love the adjustable straps, the maxi feel with the pretty, but classy, slit in the front. I purchased the shoes at the same time as the dress and have gotten several uses out of them. A special thank you and shout out to @TheHairport in North Bay for helping 'glam up' our hair! The two other ladies purchased their dresses from @Marshalls and @Winners. And of course the moment you've all been waiting for, the bride and groom, but mostly the bride (Sorry, not sorry Adam). Let me know where you get your great dress finds!
